Blackfriars is a community of friars of the Order of Preachers (Dominicans) based in Oxford. Our priory is currently home to 26 friars. Their apostolate is centred in Oxford but extends far wider. The church serves several congregations, including a Family Mass and Masses in Polish and Spanish. We run a Hall of the University of Oxford where lay people, as well as friars and other religious, pursue studies in theology and philosophy. We also offer many open lectures and special events each year as part of our mission to bring the faith to bear on public life and culture.

But Blackfriars is not least a House of Studies responsible for the education of future priests. The English Dominicans continue to be greatly blessed with vocations, and our own students are joined at Blackfriars by friars from other parts of the world, as well as by Benedictines, Franciscans, Oratorians, Dominican and other sisters, and lay men and women.
