Fr Tim and Fr Neil are your Catholic Chaplains. We are here to help you
deepen your faith through our teaching, our celebration of Mass and the other
sacraments, and to give you any support you need.
We are based at the Catholic
Chaplaincy at 23 - 24 George Square and work closely with the University Chaplain
and chaplains of other religions and traditions.
The Catholic Chaplaincy serves the students and staff of the University of
Edinburgh and the Edinburgh College of Art. The chaplaincy is also a parish
of the Archdiocese of St Andrews and Edinburgh (the parish of St Albert the
Great), and all students and staff are automatically members of this parish.
The chaplaincy was founded in 1931 and has always been served by the Order
of Preachers (the Dominicans). The Dominicans are a world-wide religious order,
dedicated to preaching the Gospel and defending the Catholic faith. St Albert
(11??-1280) was not only a Dominican friar but also the greatest scientist of
his age, as well as a great theologian and philosopher.
We celebrate a Mass for Students in the chapel at 24 George Square every Sunday
during term at 7.15pm. For details of other Masses and Morning and Evening Prayer,
click here . We will hear your confession
at any time - just ask.
If you've not yet been baptized, confirmed or made your first Holy Communion,
we are here to prepare you for these sacraments, and to give you every assistance.
If you are to be married, or want your children baptized, do get in touch with
us. Marriage requires at least six months' notice. Or if you want your room
or flat blessed, just let us know.
We hope you will have an enjoyable and rewarding time in Edinburgh. Stay healthy,
but if you should fall ill, please do let us know. If you are in hospital, the
hospital will not contact us unless you ask them to do so.
Both of us have offices in 23 George Square and you can call in at any time.

Soon after the Dominicans came to George Square they founded the
Catholic Students'
Union (CSU) . The CSU organises a whole range of spiritual and social events
and has a common room and kitchen at number 23. Fr Tim and Fr Neil lead the
CSU's discussion groups and retreats.
We hope to see you at the chaplaincy.
