Dominican Chants – A Youtube series
Many of you will be aware that the Dominican Order has its own tradition of chant, which means many of the popular Marian and other traditional Latin hymns, such as the Salve Regina, are sung differently to the Roman tradition.
In the past, Dominican students in Oxford have recorded audio recordings of some of these chants. Recently Dominican brothers from across the English Province gathered in Oxford for their Provincial Assembly to discuss matters relating to the forthcoming Provincial Chapter after Easter this year. It seemed like an opportune moment to make the most of the musically gifted brothers of this Province and, in the case of Br Stefan, of the Netherlands, to produce some new recordings. The series is entitled ‘Dominican Chants’ and the hope is over time more recordings will be added. For now we have three videos for you to enjoy and share. We hope you like them!

Thanks so much for this! I do hope you record the Te Deum, which in my view is so much stronger and more exuberant than the Roman version. Not often sung these days, I know, except on very special occasions.
