DYM Lent Study Weekend: Why did Jesus have to die?
About the weekend
Why did Jesus have to die for our salvation? Couldn’t God have just forgiven us? Would Jesus have become incarnate even if Adam and Eve had never sinned? Was the betrayal of Judas necessary, and if so, doesn’t that make God responsible? How can God want his Son to die? And how can Jesus willingly go along with the plan?
Join the Dominican Friars for a weekend of prayer and study to look at the central mysteries of the Christian faith. We will use the liturgical texts and chants of Holy Week to understand better the reasons for Jesus’ sacrifice on the Cross.
The weekend will be led by Fr Matthew Jarvis OP. As well as talks and meditations, there will be time for adoration and confession, Mass and the Liturgy of the Hours, and social time with other young Catholics.
Who is it for?
The study weekend is for any students and young professionals (20s and 30s), including those new to the Catholic tradition or looking to deepen their faith.
