DYA Study Day: Human Origins – Creation and Evolution

DYA Study Day: Human Origins – Creation and Evolution

About the day

Join us for a study day on ‘theistic evolution’: how to make sense of modern science’s theory of evolution in light of Catholic teaching on God, creation, and the human person. How do we explain the soul if the human body is merely a product of evolution? Is the Doctrine of Original Sin compatible with evolution, and was there any ‘evil’ in the world before the fall? The day will include talks, workshops, prayer, fellowship, and discussion, and lunch will be provided. There is no cost to attend, but booking is essential.

Speakers

The day will be led by Fr Robert Verrill OP, who is the prior of Blackfriars Cambridge, and teaches philosophy at the Blackfriars Studium in Oxford. Fr Robert has a keen interest in science and religion, regularly writing on the topic for the Catholic Herald, and recently completed a doctorate in philosophy at Baylor University.

Who is it for?

The day is open to any young adults (20s & 30s), including those looking to deepen their faith or new to the Catholic tradition.
