Dominican Friars’ Pilgrimage to Turin 2017
Join the English Dominican Friars on a pilgrimage to Turin and Oropa in honour of Blessed Pier Giorgio Frassati from 3rd until 7th July 2017.
The cost is £350 per person, which includes flights, meals and group transport in Italy. Open to anyone aged 18 to 35. Check out the YouTube video.
Pilgrimage itinerary:
Monday 3rd July, catch British Airways flight at 13:25 from London Gatwick to Turin, Italy; due to arrive at 16:15. Expect to remain in Turin until lunch time on the 5th July, staying at accommodation next to the shrine of St. John Bosco.
Tuesday 4th July, celebrate the feast of Bl. Pier Giorgio Frassati in Turin Cathedral, where at 18:00 there will be a special (presumably in Italian) Mass organised independently of the friars. There will be free time to explore the city and to visit some of the places associated with Bl. Pier Giorgio.
Oropa Sanctuary, Italy
Wednesday 5th July, begin the journey in the afternoon to the sanctuary of Oropa in the mountains, which will be home for two nights. Probably stop on the way in Pollone, the village where the Frassati family have a summer home and where Bl. Pier Giorgio used to stay. Hopefully celebrate Mass and possibly dinner there, otherwise dine in Oropa.
Thursday 6th July, it will be possible to take part in a hike. The hope, weather permitting, is to reach the summit of Mt Mucrone, taking the cable car part of the way up. Alternative routes will be confirmed at a later date.
Friday 7th July, depart Oropa for Turin in time to catch BA flight at 17.00 to London Gatwick; expected arrival at 17.50.
If you are aged between 18 and 35 and would like to take part in this exceptional pilgrimage, please fill out this booking form. Please note: filling in the form does not guarantee a place on the pilgrimage.
If you have any questions, please email the friars.
