This Saturday in London: The Return of Mary?
This Saturday, 17 October (7pm), the 2026 Rosary Shrine Lecture will be given by Ulf Ekman, former pastor and founder of the mega-church Word of Life Church (Livets Ord) in Sweden before he converted to Catholicism with his wife Birgitta.
The Ekmans have described their spiritual journey in The Great Discovery: Our Journey to the Catholic Church.
Can Our Lady Unite Christians?
Ulf Ekman will explore whether we are seeing a return of Mary as a figure who can unite Christians, drawing inspiration from the Anders Widorff sculpture in Uppsala’s Lutheran cathedral, “Maria (The Return)”.
We will welcome also the Rev’d Ewan King, pastor of Heath Street Baptist Church, who will give a response.
The Lecture will be given at St Dominic’s – The Rosary Shrine, Southampton Road, London, NW5 4LB, starting at 7pm on Saturday 17th October. (Nearest Tube stops: Belsize Park and Chalk Farm).
- Entry is free but registration is requested at www.tinyurl.com/rosaryshrinelecture2026.
If you cannot register in advance, there will still be free tickets available at the door, but your registering would help us plan the catering.
A wine reception will follow afterwards in the parish hall.
We hope you can join us and wish you a blessed Month of the Holy Rosary!
- Fr Joseph Bailham OP (Rector of the Rosary Shrine and Parish Priest)
- Fr Matthew Jarvis OP (Prior)

Catholics living in England are blessed to have the Dominicans – to quote Brother George ‘the Church needs Dominicans’.
The numerous and varied talks and pilgrimages (e.g. Walsingham) given by the Friars are not only interesting but spiritually rewarding.
The Rosary series for October set in Holy Rosary Shrine is awesome.
I do wish South Africa had similar leaders.
Long may your good work continue,
God bless you all
