Year of Consecrated Life 2014-2015
Today marks the beginning of the Year of Consecrated Life! This is an opportunity for us all in the Church – no matter what our vocation in life – to think about and pray for those who live a consecrated life, whether in a religious order, as a lay consecrated person, or in any of the myriad ways that Christians commit themselves to a life of service in the footsteps of Christ.
Pope Francis, in his letter to consecrated men and women, explains the aims of this Year of Consecrated Life: (1) “to look to the past with gratitude”; (2) “to live the present with passion”; and (3) “to embrace the future with hope”.
In the months to come, the Dominican student brothers on Godzdogz will share our perspective on the consecrated life – how it remains as relevant as ever to our (post)modern times and how its patterns of life, with both the struggles and the joys, encourage us along the path of Christian discipleship, which is about loving God and loving our neighbour.
