A new term begins at Blackfriars

News | A somewhat unusual term has begun at Blackfriars, but the student brothers are once more ready to bring new content to Godzdogz.

The ivy covering the church at Blackfriars has turned yellow and red, our garden is full of fallen leaves and the friars are spending considerably longer in their room, not too far from the radiators: autumn is upon us, and with it, a new term.

Admittedly, it is somewhat of an unprecedented term. The front of the priory now exhibits some new decorations:

The current space limitations have required some inventiveness: last week, in order to welcome the new students for Blackfriars Hall, a gazebo was installed in the garden, where we were able to enjoy a series of buffet lunches and catch the last glimpses of the summer…

And today, an exceptional Matriculation ceremony was held, first in the Aula, in order to watch the Vice Chancellor’s Address, and followed by drinks in the garden:

Among the many changes, this term the student brothers will see their studies and most other activities moving to an online format; yet the rhythm of our life has resumed as usual, and Godzdogz will again be offering you new contributions very soon. The brothers will try their hand at preaching weekly on the Mass Readings of every Thursday, which will take place privately during our Night Prayer, but the texts will be made available on Godzdogz the following day. Besides, each of the students will be writing on a variety of topics of their own interest.

Watch this space for this and much more!

Sorry if this seems picky, but I don’t think that’s ivy. Virginia creeper Parthenocissus quinquefolia possibly? Once a Biology teacher, always a Biology teacher.

All the very best for this coming term under somewhat strange circumstances. God bless.
